The Angle 2

This is a distant shot of the Angle. The Angle Tree is at right. In the foreground is the wall the North Carolina forces didn't quite reach. To the far side of the Angle Tree is the wall the Virginians breached. Remnants of an old argument still echo. The Virginians did breech the Union line, but the Carolinians may have traveled further east. Whose is the greater honor? I know only that there is sufficient honor to go around.

The Angle Tree is in the foreground. Perhaps describing the wall as knee high is generous? From this angle, ankle high may be more accurate? The walls have been re-stacked by the Park Service several times since 1863. For an accurate idea of their height, seek out old pictures.

It is not the height of the wall that is important. It is what is behind the wall.
